At Round Butt Labs, our puppies are family reared. That means the puppies stay in our family home to give our puppies a great start, not in a kennel! In the house, the puppies are exposed to different sounds and socialization. While the puppies are with us, we begin to build a strong foundation for a well-balanced, happy dog for you to love as a part of your family and life.
Socialization & Training
We use their time here to practice socialization. Socialization is extremely important to the puppies growing into good adult dogs. Some of the activities include:
- Introducing the puppies to as many surfaces, sounds, objects and people, including children, and experiences as we can
- Introducing a variety of outfits using hats, costumes, and umbrellas
- Moving furniture around to create new settings
- Obstacle courses & agility tunnels
- Exposing puppies to water for baths and future swimming
- Handle their ears, mouth, and paws to make sure they are comfortable for vet visits
- Initial kennel & potty training
Puppies will also go for car rides to the veterinary office to keep them healthy. Our puppies will have their dewclaws removed to prevent future injuries, receive their first round of shots and have an exam. To ensure they will not be lost or stolen, they will be given an AKC Reunite Micro Chip.
Choosing Their Forever Home
By rearing the puppies in the house with us, we are able to learn each one’s personality. They are personality tested and matched to your family. Your puppy will enjoy playing with other dogs and animals and being snuggled with parents and kids! In addition to the support you will receive for the life of your puppy, you also receive guidance to get the crucial early socialization period right, which sets a strong foundation for a well-balanced, happy dog. While you wait for your puppy’s arrival, you will receive photos and videos to watch your puppy’s progress!
